Flu Season and the Church
It’s been a nasty sick season this year and we are still in the thick of it. Due to the continued impact of Influenza A and Influenza B as well as the global concerns about the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the church has responded with some basic preventative actions. Here at Nativity the following precautions will be taken in line with recommendations from the CDC, the diocese and the United States Bishops. Please help us keep our communities healthy!
Feeling Sick? Stay Home. The obligation to attend Sunday Mass does not apply to those who are ill. In fact, it is an obligation of love and charity to stay home and care for the common good by keeping the germs to yourself.
For those involved in the Mass, hand washing should be done both before and after Mass, using hand sanitizer before, after and often around Holy Communion.
We will not be offering the Sign of Peace for the time being. It not only prevents the spread of germs, but removes the pressure to exchange a gesture.
Holy Communion in the form of the precious blood from the cup will be discontinued until further notice.
We are all responsible for our community’s wellness. Please be attentive to the needs of yourself and of others.
