The Gridiron – A community-focused mixed-use development right next door

Nativity Parish has recently decided to show our support for the newest initiative of St. John’s Homeless Shelter, a mixed-use affordable housing concept called The Gridiron. As disciples of Jesus, we are called to live the Gospel beyond the walls of the church building and beyond Sunday mornings. In this case, we are so fortunate to be able to support this community - enhancing initiative right across the street!

The Gridiron is a living concept designed for anyone in our community seeking affordable housing and social connectedness, including young professionals, the elderly, and cost-burdened individuals and families. The term “Gridiron” takes us back to the early days of football and the true grit of the game. Just like those players, many people in our community have shown their perseverance, their grit and their love of our Green Bay community and The Gridiron is their place.

The Gridiron is a unique mixed-use living concept that brings truly affordable housing for all. The Gridiron brings housing balance - improving the geographic diversity of housing, minimizing displacement, and stabilizing the workforce. Our vision is a broad community of young professionals just starting out on their career track, older adults looking for a balance of community and independence, hard-working, underpaid blue-collar workers, and cost-burdened parents with little mouths to feed.

However, it’s not just housing. The Gridiron offers a tenant-led community focused on connection with options that range from studio and one to three-bedroom arrangements. From the moment a lease is signed, residents will enjoy on-site amenities and support, including a fitness center, shared garden, community living spaces, and an advocate, as well as commercial spaces and businesses to generate revenue and provide work opportunities for both tenants and the community at large.
